Planning for Monday

Well freight is very light for the beginning of next week. This is good from a training point, but bad from a paycheck point. I am picking up a student on Sunday night. It is good for him, an easy run to get his feet wet.

It will involve highways, toll roads, minor and major back roads and an easy place to back in the trailer. It is an excellent opportunity for a confidence builder and a new driver. The run takes about 1.5 hours from pick up to delivery, so it isn’t even that long.  And the frieght isn’t very heavy (about 25,000 lbs – light compared to my normal 45,000 lbs).  Just enough to whet his appetite.

Then, after we deliver the load, we will have the rest of the day to work on trip planning, and what to do scenarios.

My pay for the day will suck, but maybe this student will benefit more from it. I will try to give daily updates on the progress of this student.
