Obama vs. McCain

This will be interesting to watch as it unfolds. The news came out late yesterday about how Hillary is out of the Democratic run for President. So officially, it is Obama vs. McCain.

Senator Obama is a first term Senator for Illinois. The National Journal named him the most liberal Senator in 2007.  He has a legal background that includes being a part time assistant law professor and being an associate attorney working on cases that involved discrimination and voter rights.

Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is weighing her options, to include the possibility of the VP running mate with Obama.

Senator McCain is a Republican Senator from Arizonia. McCain graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1958 and became a naval aviator, flying attack aircraft from carriers. During the Vietnam War, he nearly lost his life in the 1967 USS Forrestal fire. Later that year while on a bombing mission over North Vietnam, he was shot down, badly injured, and captured as a prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese. He spent five and a half years as a prisoner of war, experiencing episodes of torture. He is a highly decorated military man, with much experience in business as well. He has served in the US Senate since 1982.

The real question in my mind is who will Senator McCain pick for his running mate? Personnally, I think someone like U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice would be an excellent choice. She is well versed in foreign policy.

Let us wait and see.
